Netanyahu appoints right-wing minister Danny Danon as ambassador to the UN - an unpopular decision in the Foreign Ministry, whose budget has been cut recently; Netanyahu tries to convince Democratic senators to vote against the Iran nuclear agreement; an attempt to stab a settler on the West Bank is symptomatic of a growth in terror attacks, motivated by the desire to revenge the recent murder of a Palestinian baby; the Israeli Supreme Court rules that African refugees cannot be held in the Negev, away from Tel-Aviv, for longer than a year; for the first time, the Chief Rabbinate encounters opposition on the part of rabbis who do not accept its rulings on conversion (there are still 350,000 citizens who came to Israel by the Law of Return but are not recognized as Jews according to Jewish law).
